In January of this year, Shanghai Lingang welcomed an important moment - the Carbon Born Everything R&D Innovation Center was officially completed, and its first 100 ton air source to prepare sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF) process line was launched simultaneously. This marks a crucial step for China to move from laboratory to industrialization in the field of direct air capture (DAC) and conversion of carbon dioxide.
Founded by former Tesla Global Vice President Ren Yuxiang and senior chemical expert Zhang Hongxi, Carbon Life has a bold idea: to break the dependence on fossil carbon sources and make carbon dioxide the "oil of the new era".
They have developed a clear "three-step" strategy:
Wide capture: Utilizing large-scale DAC technology to directly capture carbon dioxide from the air, no longer limited to tail gas from power plants and chemical plants.
Clever Conversion: Convert captured carbon dioxide into various carbon based products such as aviation fuel, gasoline, environmentally friendly fibers, biodegradable plastics, etc.
